Very fine school. You might think it is just for rich kids on the North Shore, but not entirely. There are some students coming from Waukegan and Barrington, probably even the south side. I do not know what the tuition is nor how difficult it is to gain admission. I believe it is rather selective, unless you are child of an alum.

They also give scholarships to poor black kids from Evanston and other north side communities to have 10 percent diversity.

They have 1MM per year for tuition for poor kids. They used to have kids come from poor south side communities but commute was too far and now they focus on north side.

Great school, mostly for people of means. Similar crowd as you will find at Culver Military Academy, except Culver has no diversity.

Thanks pvanda55 good information. And Humboldt1 why do you say they only give it to poor black kids, do they not give it to other poor kids of color or poor white kids?

oops.. also meant to ask is it a caring community and would you say it's clicky? How does it compare to Lake Forest Academy, Francis Parker W. School, and Latin School of Chicago?

You may want to consider UC Lab in your analysis. In the suburbs, it mainly draws kids from south of Chicago. Greatly diverse by race and income, too.

However, it is quite a bit harder to gain admission to Lab than the other schools mentioned.

Eastbay,

They also give free admission to poor hispanics and one of their directors is Hispanic. I think the most od the poor white kids are the children of the staff who attend there.

Hmmm.. they give it to poor black and poor mexicans, hmmm.. but not poor whites. And humboldt1, I don't think I said poor white kids are the kids of the staff there. And yeah your are probably right that the od of poor white kids, poor black kids, nor poor mexicans are the kids of the staff there. So if I'm hearing you correctly you're saying only poor mexicans and blacks attend that school and the whites that attend there are not poor, hmmmm. Help me figure this out please.

And I'm here for just information regarding the school not who is poor and who is not poor. I promised myself I wasn't going to get in these unnecessary disputes that goes on on this site.

I was wanting information on the school size, if staff and teachers are compassion, is it a good school, and what college does most students attend, etc. Not who is poor.
