My husband and I are considering moving to the Yorkville/Oswego area. He would have to commute into the city for his job. We understand the closest metra is downtown Aurora (Route 25). Does anyone know what the parking situation is there? Do you need a permit to park there? Is there a fee to park? What time does the lot usually fill up? Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

The BNSF line, terminating in Aurora, has probably the best service and worst parking of any Metra line. And it has been even worse since the Ike construction. Elburn or LaFox, on the UP-West line have more parking. I think you need to get to the Aurora station by 6:30 to be sure of a parking space.

Do you have to pay for parking at the Aurora train station on the weekend?

There are both "monthly permit" and "daily fee" spots at most every Metra stop. In addition there are some stops that have nearby private businesses operate for-fee lots.

The Aurora municipal lots have a contact number: 630-256-4636
