What a storm this afternoon. The sky downtown just about turned black around 4:20 pm just before the wind/rain/lightning hit. I took this shot from my office window just before all hell broke loose.

Awesome, awesome shots. A few more floors higher and you'd be in those clouds!

The second wave was gorgeous. We were driving out to the Schaumburg area for a movie and we were driving right into it, and even in the dark, the wall of clouds was very visible and the lightening was incredible. It was awesome to see.

Of course, the walk from the car to the theater was less than fun. But that light show was beautiful.

Tell that to the people cleaning up the windows that fell off the Sears Tower, the woman on the South Side who got seriously injured by a tree, the man in Detroit who was killed in his car, or the guy at my job who got his face destroyed by a window that exploded in front of him.

That was the worst I've ever experienced while at work. Our office building was swaying back and forth like a boat (i'm on 26). It was a really bizarre feeling, and had a lot of people freaking out. Didn't help when they sounded alarms and forced everyone into the stairwells when the wind started ripping at the windows.

I got the weakest edge of the first derecho still had winds of between 60-70 MPH, a bunch of limbs and debris but nothing serious heck I didn't even loose power. But looking at the radar I saw some pretty nasty stuff up by Wrigley and some strong rotation near the Wisconsin border. Overall not pretty, but not horrible at least in my case.

BTW: Those are some nice pictures you guys have, as long as they are yours I recommend uploading them to Wikimedia Commons so they can be used on Wikipedia, which is in need of images from the event.

That was quite a storm for the 15 minutes or so that it lasted. I grew up in Louisiana, and I was having Katrina flashbacks lol.
