I posted in another thread earlier, but I just found a great apartment in this neighborhood that says it's off the beaten path-- anyone know whether it's an area to steer away from? Says it's south of Bridgeport?
Curious about your thoughts!

The area is largely hispanic, working class with it's fair share of drug and gang problems. On a good note the corner of 47th and ashland is cleaning up nicely.

Corollary: East of Cottage Grove, the nice area is south of 47th street, and the rundown area is north of 47th street.

Not so great. Like everyone else said, the north side of 47th street is a good area, but you're still bordering the bad neighborhood as well

bridgeport is REALLY nice though if you stay east of halsted.
