Are there any plans for Northerly Island/Meigs Field?
I think an amusement park would be a cool idea!

I think the plan is to keep it a natural-wild-prairie-grass-habitat thingy. For now at least

It's pretty nice the way it is. There is a good beach in the summer and free snow shoe rentals in the winter. It's a nice little oasis from the bustle of downtown.

They need some park benches out there. Oldtimers like me lack a place to sit down and take a blow. I ride my bike out there sometimes and I have to carry my own folding chair so I can sit under a tree and catch some shade.

Grant Park needs more benches too, LOTS more benches. But that's another story.

Don't they already have a small auditorium out there? Charter One Amphitheater or something like that?

Something like that. Actually a small intimate concert venue, seating about 8,000 or so. I saw Heaven and Hell (ie Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio--RIP) last summer. Great show. I love the venue primarily b/c it's right along the lake and you have downtown as the backdrop. I think they actually take the venue apart every year for the winter but I'm not sure?

I think I saw somebody else there before too but can't remember. At any rate, the amateur pilot's loss is my gain

Yeah, what an eyesore. Looks like a traveling circus; bunch of tents and trailers. Looks like Hell and right next to the so called "natural prairie".

The sound is awesome there though.

Yeah, I can hear it from my place. Which doesn't bother me at all, I just hate looking at the damned thing. A permanent small arena could look much nicer than the collection of trailers, satellites, tents, cyclone fences and patent scaffolding that's there now.

I just saw about 30 squad cars running up Indiana to Roosevelt going like Billy-be-*******; lights and sirens. Trouble at the fest?
