If they're not, then what is? Hopleaf and Map Room in particular are known by beer aficionados across the country.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I meant "all of the above" in my post only. I know that Hop Leaf and Map Room have great beer reps. The places I mentioned, Gullivers, Candelite, and the Edgewater don't have the extensive slections is all I meant.

I'm still flummoxed at your selection of Moody's for best burger!

Oh, OK.

Moody's rocks for burgers. Great biertgarten. Pretty useless IMO for anything else. In fact I won't eat there during months when the biergarten isn't open because I can't stand how close together the tables are inside. It also drives me nuts that they're cash-only.

Edgewater doesn't have an extensive tap selection, but they make the few they have count. Very few are wasted on dreck.

Moody's makes an excellent basic burger and fresh cut fries. No fried eggs. I think some people are looking for a burger that's more than a burger, know what I mean?

LOL... I've been known to devour an entire small (6-slice) stuffed pizza from Giordano's in one evening, if not one sitting. Then again, not everyone is me.

Try this site Vacation rentals, private rooms, sublets by the night - Accommodations on Airbnb for places to stay. I can't remember where I heard of it, but it's got listings all over the world. They have listings for bed and breakfast type things where you are renting a room in someone's apartment or house up to renting a whole apartment. When I checked, there were 210 listings in Chicago.

Well, It's been about two years since I was last disappointed at Moody's. I'll give them another try before I leave the city....sans fried egg, thank you very much.

Re B&Bs. I know a couple who stayed at Gregory House a few years ago and loved it. It's on Gregory west of Ashland. I heard that it closed, but it still shows up on a google search. It's definitely worth checking into.
