Well, hence me pointing out I work in web design/development.

Yes, I'd imagine for a large corporation/corporate environment, a "creative" resume probably isn't going to go over too well for most HR people.

My interests lie in music, fashion, art, design, academia, nonprofit, etc. My undergrad is just a liberal arts degree, and I have been applying online for the past two months for jobs in Chicago within these fields, but haven't had much luck due to my inexperience. I know online isn't the best way to land a gig, so what would be my best option as far as gaining employment? Just walk around and meet people in hopes of networking? Any advice is appreciated, maybe some mental motivation as well, as I am nervous and terrified!
I'm pretty much contemplating the same move lol...whats the update?

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to revive this post as I am in a similar boat. Does anyone have any suggestions on contacting a recruiting or headhunter firm that specializes in construction project management in the Chicago area? I am also looking for project management roles within other aspects of the building industry including; real estate development, engineering/design firms, or construction consulting.

My background is 7yrs experience in the manufacturing industry with a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Michigan.

If my girlfriend is able to get a job in Chicago before me, then I will quit and move there while continuing my search. In my experience thus far, it seems to be much more likely for me to get an interview when I live in the area vs. on the East Coast (Connecticut).

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

The construction market is horrible in Chicago, so don't even think about construction management. Its basically in a depression.
