hey there!

my internship in chicago will end soon , and since i want to travel for one more month, i would like to ship a big box with my winter clothes and other stuff home (to austria / europe). i went to the post office the other day, and they told me it's around 150$ for 40lbs, and it takes 7-10 days. but i know about another kind of shipping, it takes like 6-8 weeks but its super cheap! i have no clue where i can do this in chicago tho, maybe anyone of you can help me?

that would be awesome!!
thanks, alicia

You said you know of "another kind of shipping" that is cheaper. But you have no idea where you can do it in Chicago. That would be what?

The Post Office *used* to offer a surface option, that was very economical, and took forever to arrive. That went away over a year ago. The private carriers, (FedEx, UPS, DHL,) only offer overnight / 3-day service internationally. (Okay, UPS will drive stuff into Canada.)

If you knew a US Serviceperson or embassy staff that was located near your home, you'd be able to send it be regular US mail Parcel post via an APO/FPO address, ..., but in today's security climate ...

Frankly, I think you'd need to Google for a less than full shipping container, or find an exporter with space.
