Logan Square is number 14 out of 77 community areas in total crimes in the last 365 days.
Your credibility is zero because you might as well be in Mississippi if the best you have to back up your overgeneralization is further overgeneralized statistics.

I don't need to sell my house, thanks very much, and have zero plans to ever do so. I don' fit your mold because I believe that real estate values mean little as far as day-to-day quality of living is concerned - I include property taxes in that equation.

So the LAST thing I want is a bunch of boneheads jacking up my taxes while making zero contributions to my neighborhood. I waltz around Logan Sq and Avondale streets at all hours- no problems, ever.

I'm not in denial crime exists, just of the belief that intelligent people can take simple steps to avoid 99% of it. eg, don't join a gang. don't buy crack/meth/weed from gangsters. don't get money out of ATMs when it's late and few people are outside. It's worked for me.

Meanwhile, an Uptown resident gets arrested after attempting to rape a woman at Foster Beach and says ""She wouldn't f--- me, so I beat her ass..."

Woman Rescued From Rapist In Foster Avenue Beach Restroom - cbs2chicago.com (http://cbs2chicago.com/local/foster.sexual.assault.2.1925442.html - broken link)

"The 37-year-old victim, who had been walking along the beach in the 5200 block of North Lake Shore Drive about noon Tuesday, felt someone tap her on the shoulder when she was washing her hands at a beachhouse restroom, Stratigakis said.

When she turned around, Mbatchou allegedly punched her repeatedly in the face, then slammed her head and face against a concrete wall when she tried to fight him off by kicking him in the groin and scratching his face, authorities said."

And how about the absolute garbage of the idiot 19 year old that has a gun, is seen by the train conductor with the gun, Cops find him, struggle takes place and then points the gun at Cops and the Cops ventilate him like they should have. Now all these "witnesses" come out of the woodwork, that didn't actually see anything but act like they know. Of course the 19 year old was "turning his life around", how tiring is always hearing that! So even when the Police do the right thing and kill an armed offender, there are still people that will always say the offender was innocent and the Cops are guilty. So now gang bangers get media time, innocent people keep getting brutalized by animals, and the Cops doing their best to not go home with more holes in them than when they started shift are going to be raked over the coals for doing the right thing. So even if the crime stats or numbers aren't going up, certainly the way that offenders aren't being held accountable is a very disturbing trend.

I thought we were discussing whether or not crime was getting worse in Chicago, but I guess we're now discussing any and all incidents of crime.

Sooo...how do we know they aren't telling the truth? Aren't you doing the same thing you accuse them of doing? You didn't see anything, but you act like you know.

FWIW, when I see the police stopping or questioning someone, I always assume that the person did something wrong. But I also know from personal experience that everyone wearing that uniform isn't doing the right thing.
