35th St Red Hots is as good as any IMO. Nice snappy casing Vienna and fresh cut fries. Since I started going there trips to Gene and Judes are no longer needed.

Looks delicious!

Thanks for the picture, it always adds some color to a thread.

Superdawg gets my vote.

For an exotic dog, it's gotta be Doug's.

I used to go to King's Hotdogs when I was a kid. Does anyone know if they're still around?

I can't remember-it's been 40 years-but it was well established even then. My Dad used to drag us kids from DuPage County to eat there. It was a pretty basic hotdog joint and always busy, but man, was it good. Hotdogs and fries in a paper sack.

Fresh cut fries always get my vote with a sandwich. Lindy's on Archer and Western made great burgers, hot dogs and fresh cut fries. And you could get a cup of chili with it.

Do most of these places use their own concoctions regarding the type of hot dog they use. Who in Chicago uses vienna beef? Those are the ones that are my favorite. A local spot by me sells vienna beef hot dogs on a seeded bun with the peppers and all that. I get em with just ketchup but i literally will not eat any more hot dogs again unless they are vienna, even if they are all beef I have to have vienna beef.

It all depends. Many places will use the golden standard - Vienna Beef. I have had some places that uses Nathan's or Hillshire farms, but they are inferior in my opnion. I read here on the forums that Superdawg actually uses its own meat that they raise on their own farm; that's pretty hardcore if true.

And it is tradition to use the standard toppings. Screw those places who put lettuce and crap on the hot dogs. WTF is that?

Did I already mention Jeff's, at the corner of Byron and Cicero?
Great Vienna hot dogs and Italian beefs!
