We will be traveling on I-90 West through Chicago on a Friday morning. What would be the best time to go through the city to avoid the worst of the morning traffic?

10pm-midnight would be even better....

Are you just passing through?? If so and unless you absolutely must see the skyline or something., ditch I-90 near Portage IN, take I-80/94 to I-294 to around the city, pick up I-290 near Northlake and catch I-90 again out by Northlake. I know, it sounds convoluted... but check out a Google Map of the Chicago area and it will make enough sense.
