Although yes, with Google and Wikipedia, I did a little research and crime around Yale has been a problem.
But in Chicagoland, areas around universities are always safe. Community colleges can be another story.

Um. DePaul Student here. Why on earth do you need a 2 bedroom and Why on earth do you want to live somewhere else other than the North Side?!?!? That just completely defeats the purpose of going to DePaul. Live in Oakpark and say goodbye to social life.

Also, to add... Lincoln Park and Lakeview are among the safest areas. If you NEED a 2 bedroom (which unless you have kids is unnecessary in Chicago), try Southport Corridor, Roscoe Village, Buena Park, Logan Square, etc. if you REALLY want that two-bed. Oak Park is about an hour away from DePaul, and if you take the train, REALLY SKETCHY.
