I called PODS to get info on their moving units and they said they couldn't deliver units unless it was on my property due to city codes. However, I decided to call PACK-RAT and they said "Sure, we can deliver the unit to your street." I ordered the unit from them but now I'm a little nervous about getting cited by the city.

Does anyone know if there's any actual city codes against deliverying these units and putting them on a city street while you pack?

Thanks!

PODS refused to drop off at my Chicago address even when I told them there was plenty of space on my driveway to do it. I do believe you need a permit to place an object like a storage pod or (more often) a dumpster on the street. You might try to get in contact with Streets & Sanitation to find out what the deal is. They may not be the ones who issue the permits but with any luck they'll point you in the right direction.

Default I highly doubt it

unless you live on the north side there's a chance you might get caught, but I find it hard to believe, they're are any city employees, that dilligent enough,. or have that kind of spare time to even notice such things,

Quite frankly, I would shakedown, or strong arm any city of chicago employee that would make an issue out of a pod on your driveway.

Kids dying in school, old people dying in their homes, because its too hot, and garbage laying on Western Ave and the Blvd, and the City of Chicago is going to bust your balls, for a pod.

In my family that employee would be out of job real quick, if they did something like that, FOR REAL
