I second Rose Angelis, but my fave is Caro Mio in Ravenswood.

Anyone been to Enoteca Roma (http://www.yelp.com/biz/enoteca-roma-chicago)? (broken link) I've heard good things but I'm not sure if it's worth paying for a babysitter for.

I used to go there regularly because it was a few blocks from my house. Good wine list, but the food is just so-so. The patio and street dining is quite nice in the summer. It just got a glowing bunch of reviews on Check Please, however, so I would avoid it for a while. Definitely not baby-sitter worthy.

Both good. I actually proposed to my wife in a park after eating at Rose Angelis, but I haven't been there in years.

Lately my wife has been scouring the near western suburbs based on what she sees on LTHforum. I recently tried Freddy's in Cicero, and that place is great. Definitely not fancy in any way, but there are some real gems served up there.

That's crazy talk. I don't know HOW you could have left hungry.

I've been there too. Was not that impressed with the food although the service was good. For the prices, the food shoud be incredible, instead of something similar to what I can get in Milwaukee.

Hands down, the best Italian Restaurant in Chicago is Volare (St. Clair/Grand)
