'Tis a crime you didn't live to see your induction into Cooperstown. But thanks for making Chicago your city and the Cubs your team.

Amen to that. I suppose now they'll finally vote him in, too late. Can't ignore those stats after all the sports shows talk about them all week, which I'm sure they will.
I usually didn't like listening to baseball on the radio but the Pat & Ron show was different to say the least. Loved it.
What a sad day!

Thanks for all the memories Ron! You are a big part of my youth. Santo-Kessinger-Beckert and Banks! What an infield! And what a third baseman!

So sad. He was so great on the radio that my wife would sometimes listen to the broadcasts with me...and that's saying something! First Ernie Harwell, then Bob Sheppard, now Ron Santo. The game has lost some magnificent voices.

Amen to that. I always loved his very anti-Chip Caray robotic style. Sigh.

Wow, a sad day. Grew up watching him play. Though I was in grade school during his time but I remember him well.

HOF or not, he was a terrific ballplayer. An excellent third baseman who hit very well during a "pitchers era". If you liked to watch good, hard-nosed fundamental baseball, he was the real deal. In fact, he had a bit of a bad boy rep amongst many of his contemporaries. He slid hard into every base and could smacktalk with the best of them.

Godspeed Mr. Santo, This Sox fan hopes you are going to that special place where the Cubs beat the Yankees in the World Series every year.

Such a sad day. Couldn't believe it when I woke up to the news this morning. Effected me unlike most "celebrity" deaths do because of his love for the game, the Cubs, and just his overall attitude toward life. R.I.P. Ronnie
