One-year, 1.5M deal, coming in as a setup man.

While I think Wood is on the verge of completely spent, 1.5M for one year isn't a big risk for the Cubs. I like it.

If he stays healthy I could definitely see him being useful set-up man. But that's a fairly large-sized if.

I agree. Though the fact that he could be on the "verge of completely spent" makes it hard for me to give a crap about this acquisition, outside of some tiny sentimentality I hold for Mr. Wood's early years. I just don't see the Rickets' being as aggressive as I hoped they would be. We need a slightly crazed owner in the model of George Steinbrenner/Jerry Jones/Mark Cuban. Someone who will defy their own financial self interest to have a winning Cubs team.

A real owner would have done all he could to get Pujols or Dunn. Carols Pena? Please.

I really wanted to see him in a brewers uni but I know that would be like playing for the white sox. The Brewers don't K-Woody we have a guy named OnMilwaukee.com Sports: Brewers land Greinke from Royals

Wood has been more healthy the last three years than in any other three consecutive years in his career. Not saying much, but better than he used to be with injuries.
