When I left Chicago in 2005 I had witnessed a good portion of the teardown of Cabrini (as I worked VERY close to the sites). At that time the only real new construction were the rowhouses built on Laramie. Which I have to say were far less desirable than could have been built in such a prime real estate area.

Question 1: Are there plans or have there been any park areas built around this new development in Cabrini yet? Anything other than housing? Would have made a great location for that casino the city seems to so desperately wants

Question 2 (and most importantly): Where are these Cabrini residents being relocated to? I know at the time most of the occupants of the buildings were being relocated to the Calumet City area. Is this still the case or are there other low income properties being developed in the South suburbs?

Laramie? Laramie is like 5 miles west of Cabrini-Green.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the residents are now mixed in to various Chicago neighborhoods. They are no longer centralized. I think they get vouchers or something that they can use to get lower rents out in the hoods. I don't really know how it all works, someone else here step up if you know.
