Huh? I think it was their Malibu Chicken [if I remember], - that was awesome!

Oops, my bad
North and 19th in Melrose Park

1901 W North Ave

Yelp reviews were great...but....has someone here(the all powerful CD-my lifeline to all things Chicago) actually eaten there?

Anyone have any favorites that are reasonably priced, but decent?

The Weathermark tavern at 15th and Michigan has an excellent filet for about two bits; very tender and tasty. Very good sides too, they do this thing were they put mashed potatos in this spring roll kind of a deal, really good.

Wow, a lot of jabbering by trolls in this thread without a good amount of useful information.

Anyways, I love the Chop house. I seem to remember it well enough, even though it has been about 6 years since I've dined there. I've been to Fogo de Chao as well and was impressed. I've been to Wildfire quite a few times, but every subsequent visit seems to leave me less and less impressed with the steak.

I'm usually underwhelmed with the traditional places - Gibson's, Morton's, etc. They have very good steaks, but certainly no better than anything you can do at home. Given the prices at most steak houses I only go when work is paying for it. I usually go to Burke's Primehouse (http://www.davidburke.com/restaurant_primehouse.html - broken link) or Keefer's. They both do an excellent job of aging their steaks, and it's nearly impossible to buy that quality steak at any retail places.

For inexpensive steak I really like El Nandu. It's Argentinian style steak, and they have an awesome Chimichurri.

In a lot of ways I think the best bet is to get some good steaks from a place like Paulina, get good charcoal and wood from Berger Bros. and cook it yourself. It will be as good as 90% of the steak houses out there at less than half the cost.
