I don't think they mean to ignore you. This topic has been discussed at length at least 2 or 3 times in the past months. Homicide totals are down over the city and nationwide. Plus, the list is what one would expect. Maybe the top 10 neighborhoods change one or even two positions every year, but for the most part, the list looks similar year to year. These are also probably the poorest neighborhoods with the highest unemployment rates too.

I'm not sure how you want everyone to respond to statistics you copy and pasted with nothing else

Folks need to understand that homicide, while it is very serious, is not folks' biggest crime worry. Most homicides occur between people who know each other -- so it is individuals who need to be shunned, not necessarily city blocks. Nor is hoimicide the most prevalent felony, thank God.

So the statistics mentioned really have little applicability as to residential habits of individuals. Which is what this forum is about.

Folks here also tend to ignore single digit posters.

I was ready to express my disappointment that Humboldt Park came in second place, 'cause, you know, second place is first loser.
Maybe this year we'll get serious about our homicide in these parts and grab the top spot.

As for Humboldt Park, I know a lot of people know this, but some people don't: those stats are for the community area, not the neighborhood. The Humboldt Park community area is only really HP west of the park/Humboldt Boulevard. The portion of the Humboldt Park neighborhood in the West Town community area had zero murders in 2010, actually down from about eight or nine (depending on how you define the HP neighborhood) in 2009.

I'm Surprised the Robbers Park neighborhood isn't on that list!
It's on the 10 o'clock news a lot
