By the way, thanks for your fast replies.
Public transit in chicago is pretty good, especially if you use the CTA's BusTracker and TrainTracker for schedule and arrival information.

The location you showed is not very close to IIT, and there isn't very fast transit from there to IIT - Google says it would be about 45 minutes each way.

If that's too much of a commute for you, I second looking in Bridgeport near 35th Street, between Canal St and Racine St, so you can easily take the 35th Street bus to IIT, or near the Halsted or Ashland Orange Line "L" stops so you can quickly ride to Roosevelt Rd "L" station and transfer to the Green Line to get to IIT. Or just live in the South Loop near Roosevelt Road for a quick trip to IIT.

There's also more stuff going on in the South Loop, and Bridgeport would be a shorter commute than the U.V. location you showed.

That part of the Ukranian Village is a little quite - I don't know what part of Barcelona you're from, but that area is a lot more low-key than even the quieter parts of Barcelona I've seen.

I agree w/ the suggestion that you look in Bridgeport west of the expressway near 35th. You can buy cheap bikes to commute more quickly to IIT from there (a few minute bike ride due East). Coincidentally, your email takes me back in time. An ex of mine who is from Madrid was working on an architecture thesis over there about 12 years ago. She figured she would go home after the year, but wound up staying.

You have already contacted the person you'll be leasing from correct? Just judging from your initial post, but there is a very long time between signing for an apartment and getting the apartment sometimes. Especially if you haven't even seen it yet.

Something tells me that the OP is going to rent without seeing a place in person first. If they have ten days or whatever before they move to Chicago, I think that is a safe assumption.

That makes sense, I'm just curious as to whether or not they know that it's not a matter of just finding a suitable place in theory, showing up and expecting to be able to rent on the spot. I wasn't sure if they had already contacted the landlord by reading their first post or had used the term "finding" in the sense of simply choosing a place.

Good point. I did not think about it that way.

I hope they don't make any rash decisions and also that nobody takes advantage of them.
