News. Discussion. Rants. Pissed off people.

Of note: It is official, the CPS has closed schools for tomorrow. It is the first time the CPS schools have been closed due to snow/winter weather in 12
years.

This link provides various other closings in the city and burbs

I was thinking that there ought to be a centralized thread.

The upside is that I don't have to go to work tomorrow. The downside is that I'm forced onto VPN and my blackberry. Not sure how, but it could be worse.

I was going to make one yesterday, but I wanted to make sure this storm was for real first.

I think I got 2 inches more snow in the last hour. My lights have flickered 3 times in the last hour as well.

Is there a way to upload video to this site? I used my BB to take some footage outside my window.

I don't know. If all else fails, maybe you could put it on You Tube and then link it.

Here on the North Shore accumulations are minimal so far but WOW us the wind nasty. It looks like it's snowing out because the wind is blowing the snow all over the place. Garbage collection is being delayed and no one is allowed to park on the streets to make it easier for the plows. Decided to go get ga before the storm got even worse than it already was around 4pm and took me a half hour to go one mile. The weather forecasters have been wrong a lot, but now I think they are right. This is about to be one of the worst we've ever seen.

Well, that was fun. It took me 3 1/2 hours to get from Downers Grove to Woodlawn. This place will be shut down tomorrow.

I'd say about 3 inches outside only in Lincoln Park - blowing a lot so it makes it seem worse, but really not that bad, so far. Looking at the weather maps - it appears to me the heavy stuff is missing us to the south.

The snow is just getting started. It's only been snowing for 4 or 5 hours so far. There isn't a whole bunch of accumulation in the city yet but it's coming.
