Hello everyone. I have just received an offer for a job in the Elk Grove Village area, about a mile south of I-90 and a mile west of O'Hare.

I'm currently living in Evanston (southwest, right near the border of Chicago) though I plan to move into the city in a month or two. For the time being though I'm trying to figure out if I'm better off taking Touhy all the way over or cutting down south to the Kennedy. If I took the Kennedy I'd probably be getting on at Foster, after the split.

I've spoken to a few people about this and have gotten conflicting opinions. Also any other routes I may be overlooking would certainly be great to hear about. As for when I move, I plan to move into the NW part of the city, next to the Kennedy, not too far out though I'd say no farther from downtown than Irving Park. Any comments on the commute from there to EGV would be appreciated as well!

Don't take the Kennedy while you are living in Evanston. It is a waste of time.

Default Combo of surface streets and maybe 294 are probably best bet...

The Kennedy, and even Edens, will not help much. The fastest stretch of 90 rarely gets over 35/40 during rush hour. If you are very close to an entrance you can use the speed to your advantage by beating the slow downs caused by traffic lights on surface streets, but once you start zigzagging down toward the Kennedy and then it takes you back to the NW the additional travel is a wash...

Oakton to Higgins?
When I lived in So. Skokie, Howard to Gross Point to Touhy to Higgins would be a bit faster.
North side of Chicago, take Pratt(if it's close-since Devon is so congested from Western to Kedzie) to Kedzie to Devon and go west. Might be able to take Nagle south to Kennedy and save some time.
