This sure aint skyscrapercity forum, this is mohammed wong slumming from
skyscapercity, some good discussions here though.

But development wise you guys are kindof way way way way far behind in the know.

The answer is yes,
LSD is going to be expanded.

TO THE SOUTH.

SouthWorks, the old Steel Plant on the South Side
in South Chicago is where LSD is going to be expanded.

City Data Forum = Obsessed with Today, Here and Now, Future Trends!? Hunh?

Skyscrapercity Forum or SkyscraperPage = People who understand that the City is in Flux and is uptodate with development in the works today, tomorrow and ten years and twenty years down the road. Future Concepts abound, people discuss what could be, should be, etc......

Check out SKyscrapercity Forum if you dare,
Under Chicago, Under Neigborhood Section
I created a separate thread thats been stickied, call South Works,
bunch of info there

Also to the OP, WRONG FORUM.
To be fair city data forum does have interesting debates and discussions about how the city is RIGHT NOW.

This was the original plan back in the day. That's why Madonna della Strada on Loyola's Rogers Park campus faces the lake -- the front of the church was supposed to face the extension of LSD.

Lake Shore extention to Evanston would suffocate the communities between Hollywood and Evanston. The lakeside communities have long been a necessary anchor to Rogers Park and parts of Edgewater that have been struggling for decades. A Lake Shore Drive would all but end the anchor and leave the communities in big, big trouble. People would move out and crime would be rampant...

North Chicagoan, was it really worth bumping a thread 5 years old just to say you agree with it...?

Watch how other people will continue replying to this thread.

I don't really agree. Bringing Rogers Park 10 minutes closer to the city might finally allow it to redevelop. The housing stock there is not good and the only reason RP is decent at all is its central location. With a boulevard or parkway (not a true expressway) having exits at Devon, Morse/Lunt, and Howard, there could be real change for the better.

RP already does not interact with the lake very much and the lakefront parks would just move a block further east.

Edgewater would be a bigger challenge because of the intense lakefront development. I would route the LSD extension up Broadway, not Sheridan.
