@tonythetuna

In a hope to get this thread back on track i feel like i have to prove something to you in order for you to leave me alone. Here is a screen shot of all the hands i have played in the last three years since finding poker the screen shot is from a software called Hold em manager which basically tracks all the hands you play on the poker sites. Please note the bottom where i started the .10/.25c tables which have a 25$ buy in and at the top 100/200 which is a 20k buy in as you can see i have made over 1m in poker is this enough for you to leave me alone?. If you thought i was lying and making this all up to impress i don't know who? wouldn't it of been the kinder thing to just leave me be? im available any time to play you at just about any amount you can get a hold of your really starting to annoy me of man.

I would ignore Tony, he's been banned before and he really doesn't have anything better to do with his time.

As far as spending money goes, you don't need to be extravagant. If your fake worked in Vegas it will be fine here, especially at the more low key college type locations where half the customer base is underage anyway.

Congratulations on your success (if that really is a screen shot of a real money account that YOU own).

Yes, there are people who play poker and make a side income from it. I don't play it myself, but in Chicago, there are plenty of professional gamblers, but they are more commonly known as "market traders" and they make their money in the large worldwide casino known as the "markets" (I trade the markets on the side).

If you do move here, I would not tell or brag to people that you play professionally; just keep it to yourself, or you are going to attract the wrong kind of attention. Plus. most people will not believe you.

I remember a few years back, when most forms of online gambling were still legal, there were guys running around claiming they were professional sports bettors. Most of the time, these were guys who were big talkers, out at bars, but had no idea what they were talking about.

Now, having said all of that - back to your question about renting. Most landlords are not going to rent to you, if you state that you are a professional gambler. They are not going to consider that to be a stable or serious type of income (even if you show them your betting account). Most landlords WILL rent to someone who is self-employed, but you will have to show them three years of IRS returns, showing that your income is stable over the course of a long-term, but again, I doubt they will rent to a recent immigrant who claims to be a professional gambler.

As to paying for a year of rent up front, some will consider that, but some will not. Myself, I would not be willing to pay for a year of rent up front, there are some risks, as a renter, that the landlord may file bankruptcy, and you could very well lose that Pre-Paid Rent money.

Also - if I were you, I would take the others' advise, and live up in Lincoln Park or DePaul area...lots of people your age there.

It would be close to impossible to fake a screen shot like this as you would have to compile hundreds of thousands of hand history's as you can see i have played over 800 thousand hands only can a account holder only have access to it. Not only that but other players would never show me their database for obvious reasons especially ones that play high stakes. hold em manager only works for real money games so yes its a real money games but obviously im not stupid enough to have that amount of money sitting in an online poker account making no interest for me most of it is in the bank.

Would it make a difference to them if i had X amount in the bank? more than enough to cover 20 years of staying with them?. If not what are my other options could i have my father co sigh the lease with me? he lives in NYC he is a trader i do not know for sure but i would imagine he has very good credit and is financially secure to foot anything going bad. I had a conversation recently with my dad about how the u.s do credit and he said it is very tough when you first move there even if you have a considerable amount of money in your bank account its all about credit from what he said he wasn't even able to get a credit card when he first moved even though he had a black amex in Australia. It seems like good advice to not tell them i play poker for a living could i just say im some rich kid with all this money so i don't need a job?...

thank you for your suggestions i will look into them.

Also this is a question that wont be relevant to me for at least a decade but how is the Chicago area with schools? (pre school , high school , college) i attended a very good school and feel it has atributed to my success greatly.

Maybe i gave him what he wanted but he was starting to enrage me haha. I hope it does work i cant image it not working i think vegas is pretty hot on checking if fakes are believable e.t.c i also imagine my accent might help me with them believing me if im saying i am 21.

You could always just have the lease in your fathers name if possible. Plenty of "rich kids" do that.

Yes, you will most likely need to have your father co-sign for you. The landlord will run his credit and need to verify his income and employment.

How did you find a place to stay in vegas? It is pretty much going to be the same situation here.

You could go to Chicago Apartment Finders and have them find you an apartment that meets your criteria. They will take you around and show you units, and can call the landlords ahead of time to make sure that they are willing to rent to you in your situation. They do not charge a fee; the landlord pays their commission.

If you move here - I wouldn't tell anyone about your financial situation at all, don't even bring it up. Meet people based on your own personality and don't rely on money as a crutch. Trust me on this, if you rely on building friendships based on how much money you have, then those relationships are going to be very shallow, and based only on those people trying to get something out of you, and that is all (or worse - setting you up for lawsuits, etc). They are going to angle to get what they want out of you, and then move on. But if they are your friend based on the fact that you are a genuinely interesting person, (as opposed to someone that they can leach off of), then you are always going to have great people to hang out with and you will enjoy your time here in the city.

I paid for the hotel with a card

I havent heard of ''Chicago apartment finders'' i did look at rent.com briefly a few days ago i emailed a few people but they haven't gotten back to me. I certainly try not to tell anyone about my situation many of my friends are unaware with the anonymity of the internet its very easy to keep things under wraps. The friends that do know i have known forever and i really dont have any close friends i have met since i have been somewhat successful. I knew my girlfriend when i was fourteen and way uglier/poorer so i know she doesn't like me because of my financial situation. Shes much smarter than me and going to medical school so she will be swimming in the money in a few years. Im sure she is happy we can afford to stay somewhere safe but she has never asked for anything ludicrous or anything like that and still works and pays half of the rent and all that even though i have said that she should just focus on her studies.

Look on Craigslist for an apartment. If I had that money and I was your age, I would move to Lincoln Park. It's a pretty neighborhood, it's close to everything, and there are lots of girls your age around there. There are other college-type neighborhoods in Chicago, but none have a bar scene like the one around DePaul University. I'd move a little east of the DePaul area, maybe by the lake. You might like Lakeview or Wicker Park too.
