Hey everyone!

So, me and roomie are trying to find a place that would make a bearable commute for both of us from the city. The problem is she works in Lombard and I work in Buffalo Groove. Are there particular neighborhoods we should look into? Thanks

Ouch! Do you have the option to get to your offices in the suburbs from a metra station easily? If yes, your best bet would probably be to live right by Union Station in the city. Otherwise, I don't think there's a location anywhere within the city that wouldn't give at least one of you a ~90 minute commute driving except for maybe somewhere right by O'Hare.

So NW and western suburb? Both of your commutes from anywhere in the city will be brutal. Any of your typical 20something neighborhoods in the city are going to require Kennedy to 294 to get to Buffalo Grove. The closer to the lake you get the worse the commute will be for you and doubly bad for your roommate. Seriously, I can't think of any good location in the city I'd live in given the 2 job locations.

Honestly, I would find a new roomie ASAP unless you both want to be miserable. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you!

Try downtown Arlington Heights. For the suburbs, it's a tolerable downtown and you can use Metra into the city or drive 20 minutes and use Blue Line Park & Ride. About 20-ish minutes to Buffalo grove and 25-40 minutes to Lombard.
