"Ald. Proco "Joe" Moreno, 1st, hopes to raise about $21 million a year under a proposal that also would make the stickers free for drivers of electric cars and cut the cost for those with hybrid vehicles."

"Stickers for small passenger cars that run on gas would increase from $75 to $95. Decals for SUVs would rise from $120 to $155. For large trucks, the cost would jump from $420 to $455."

Chicago city stickers may cost more for all gas cars - Chicago Breaking News (http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/news/local/ct-met-city-stickers-gas-guzzlers-04120110413,0,4244809.story?track=rss - broken link)

We must remember who make theses recommendations and make them pay by doing a e-mail marketing campaign against them and their ideas. Shut them up !!

I think it's a little disengenous for him to try and frame this as some sort of green inititiave when the clear goal is revenue generation.

And really? Incentive for purchasing a hybrid or electric? To save $100 a year, I'm going to buy a $30,000 Prius?

How long have sticker prices remained the same?

it's not much of an incentive, but, it's not really a lot of money either in terms of an increase - I assume the point is to just get people who own SUVs thinking about whether or not they really need them. There is no doubt they cause more wear-and-tear based on weight.

In fact, my longstanding grudge is why do we punish contractors by banning light pickup trucks like the F-150 on Lake Shore Drive, yet allow the Toyota Tundra and all those other ridiculous glorified-minivans on it? Makes no sense IMO.

Default joe moreno steal from the poor give to the rich

Once again the people of chicago are under attack by our government (Libya without the tanks) Instead of raising fees it is time to get rid of our bloated inefficient do nothing City Council. Moreno wasn't voted in he was APPOINTED He is not the choice of the wards residents, he is the choice of Da Mayr. When will we wake up? call your alderman. Tell them how you feel about this newest attack on the working wounded. Take away their bodyguards their drivers and their generous pensions for a PART TIME JOB!

Default Chicago The city that works you over $$$$$$$$$

Enough is Enough. When will we stand up for our rights? When will we say no to taxation without representation? Once again an APPOINTED do nothing ALDERMAN wants to PICK YOUR POCKET! Someone who can afford a $35,000 car gets a free ride while the rest of us who cannot afford a new vehicle pays more. Steal from the POOR to give to the RICH. Hey PROCO are you related to the Gov from Wisconsin what's next Take away our collective bargaining?

Default You've got to be kidding!

If this goes through it'll be another nail in the coffin for Chicago. I'm totally sick of the high taxes and never getting anything for them. Our streets and highways are crap and always will be. Goodbye Chicago!

The Tundra is a full-sized Toyota pickup and is not allowed on LSD.

How? I pay $86 a month pre-tax for unlimited transit usage, there's no city income tax, we have a high sales tax that's at least coming down a bit and my property taxes are a lot lower than the burbs.

I really don't think Chicago is THAT outrageous of all places.
