What's your favorite newspaper or do you just read both on a daily basis? I have heard that the trib is a puff piece for certain politicians and is mainly a more conservative leaning newspaper. If you had to only read one which one would you choose? which one is more popular in Chicago?

Neither. Let both of those terrible papers go under. I'll read for free online or seek out other news sources before my money would ever go to supporting either. But if forced, I would pick Trib over Scum-times.

Agreed. Both of them suck, and barely do a good job of rehashing 'news'.

Every so often, the Trib will do decent by doing a story with some resemblance of investigative journalism. It's a shame, really.

Yeah this is pretty much modern day journalism. God forbid they actually ask the 5'w! I once read an article in the Milwaukee urinal(Journal) sentinel about our former governors low approval rating and stated it had dropped by 38% but it failed to mention in the huge article what his numbers were and what they are now and the time in between both polls. I was shocked that people still get newspaper subscriptions of this crap! or when they talk about a crime but fail to mention where is happened what time or what kind of person they are looking for to avoid stereotypes. For instance our paper and I have noticed this is basically all major newspapers today. They will say: "The police are looking for a medium build man in his early twenties clean shaven.: Now what's missing from that! how about his color or his race? but no don't want to offend anyone.!

neither, NYT is only newspaper I will purchase. Both Chi papers seem almost tabloidish and definitely sensationalist.

I agree, New York Times and Washington Post are the only "papers" I read (Online versions)

If these papers seem "tabloidish" you should see the NY Post & NY Daily News. But then again those papers can be somewhat entertaining. The Detroit Free Press is probably one of the weakest papers I've seen in terms of content. I don't think they even circulate a physical paper anymore. NY Times is probably the best newspaper nationally, and Wall Street Journal is the best business newspaper in IMO.

I am a news junkie so those NY papers I check everyday, the crime section is interesting, a lot of weird crimes seem to be committed more in NY than anywhere else. I subscribe to both online and print versions of the wall st journal, now that's a paper!

I subscribe to the Chicago Tribune and have for years
Most of the time I get my information from the net even when I have the hard copy
most times it just gets tossed to the side

I guess the "paper habit" is hard to let go

I actually read both papers online and enjoy some of the content
Mainly the local news, the world news part is not good
Internet has changed media forever, and still remember the glory days of newspapers
and I would hate to see them disappear from the landscape

Studs Terkel said (about 1998 or 1999) that no self-respecting fish would want to be wrapped in the Sun-Times.
