Planning on coming to Chicago for the Fourth of July weekend. Arriving by Amtrak at Union Station Downtown & will be staying at Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport.

Would like to know how far is Union Station from the Blue line?

The Blue line is going to take me directly to the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport.

I was told the Blue line is only steps away from the Hilton Hotel.

If there is any chance at all to change your reservation I would attempt to do so ASAP!
While it is bad enough to be in a hotel way out near Rosemont during the Fourth because of the distance and feeling that you are going completely opposite traffic what makes this hotel especially heinous is the fact the O'Hare Hilton is LITERALLY sandwiched by the main O'Hare parking structure on ALL SIDES and you will be stuck indoors or sucking down exhaust fumes and jet fuel this is a REALLY HORRIBLE choice unless you are "stranded" at O'Hare during some weather related backup (and then it is a lifesaver)...

There are DOZENS AND DOZENS of hotels that are no more costly than the O'Hare Hilton that are far far far far more convenient to Union Station, ESPECIALLY during SUMMER when there is so much to do near the Lake.

Good Luck!

Chet Everett, i really really want to THANK you for your reply, i had read many reviews of people who had stayed at Hilton O'Hare many were good.

But it was your reply that hit me in the head like a brick, what the HELL was i thinking of booking a Hotel by the Airport, when i'm going to spend most of my time in the Downtown area.

Normally, that is where i book my Hotel in the Downtown area, the thing i was trying to save some money this time. As you pointed convenience is worth more.

So i took your advice & cancelled my reservation at the Hilton O'Hare & booked it at Hotel Allegro downtown, paying just a little more than i would had i book it at the Hilton O'Hare.

THANKS

Yeap, the standard advice if you are a tourist is to book downtown. What you save on hotel can be eaten by parking ect and while you could save money by commuting via the blue line, who wants to commute to your vacation every day? Save the commute for work! From O'hare to downtown is a 30 minute commute and that is before you transfer/walk to where ever you are going downtown.

A great number of tourists that come to Chicago ride a plane. That makes downtown a reasonable choice.
