Exactly. Even in the case of the stupid (or not, actually, considering that my argument concerns Joe Average's geographical conceptions) '90s sitcom 'Married with Children,' the shot of the city featured in the opening creds includes neither the Sears (now Willis ; I have plenty to say about that but will save it for another thread - you're welcome ) nor the Hancock building. On the other side of the coin, the image of the Seattle skyline used in the 'Frasier' credits was actually manipulated (buildings moved, added, etc.) to make the city appear LARGER. Stereotypes are like old shoes (pardon the unintended Married with Children reference.. heh).. comfortable, familiar, non-world-view-confusing/-displacing. People like to have their biases confirmed when being entertained.. I'm sure it's actually some sort of evolutionary adaptation (that can obviously be overridden by if someone's intellectual curiosity is high enough), if you wanted to be that analytical about it.

I never knew Married with Children was filmed in Chicago. Despite Chicago crime problem it is my favorite city in the midwest and I think one reason it may be "secret" as titled is because it being in Illinois. Jeez, why can't Chicago just be a district. It is known that residents of Chicago metro knows more of Wisconsin and Michigan than downstate Illinois.

It wasn't filmed here (except for the fountain in the intro and exterior shots of the house which is in Deerfield), it was just set here. The actual filming was done in Hollywood. The fountain in the intro is Buckingham Fountain, which is right downtown in Grant Park.

So where are the pictures of Chicago's beauty?

I ask because it's so common on C-D for proud residents to post pics of their cities which they are best able to choose and present.

I could google pics of Chicago but I would like to see the images you guys feel exemplifies your city's beauty.

I'm not sure if these are the type of pictures you are looking for but the "Sticky: Post your pictures of Chicago" thread (not sure how to provide a link to it, or if that is even possible) has some great pictures posted.
