I am coming from out of state soon to apartment search. Can anyone recommend SPECIFIC apartment buildings in Edison Park or nearby neighborhoods? I will be commuting to Hoffman Estates and so want to stay as far west in Chicago as I can.
Would really appreciate the names of some good apartment buildings that I can check out while I am in town!

A good portion of those apartment buildings in Edison Park and Norwood Park are 1950's style and family owned. You may find some managed through a company, but it's not as likely. If you're coming from out of state, you may want to scour the Chicago Reader and craigslist to see if there is something you can have in the queue for when you do visit.

When you do get here, you'll most likely see a lot of 'classic' orand and black 'for rent' signs in windows; this is how a majority of apartments are advertised in these old-school neighborhoods. You'll probably find a good amount on or off of Northwest HWY and Harlem ave. I've said it before, but I've personally seen a lot of signs heading south on Harmlem from Touhy to Bryn Mawr.

Good Luck.

I thought it only becomes Harmlem south of Lake Street.
