You mean like me? I've been buying my City sticker like clockwork since I was a teen.

Any stats/studies backing your contention?

People who own SFHs tend to be quite familiar with the local rules in my experience, it's the people who live in high-rises that have actually been identified by the City as particularly problematic.

if you don't like it, tell it to the judge.

and registering your car & getting the appropriate license/sticker is pretty basic.

and it isn't the DMV that handles this, it's the City Clerk's Office:

Office of the Chicago City Clerk -- Information

So in a nutshell, nah, don't subscribe to the Trib, but you might want to ask yourself why googling "chicago city sticker" is beyond your grasp.
Now I'm the dullest knife in the drawer. Ok. Well, just a fyi because perhaps you've never lived outside of Chicago, I've lived in 6 different cities (none as big as Chicago) prior and have never heard of a city sticker having to be purchased. I don't doubt that a lot of bigger cities have this requirement but I did live in Dallas and that is a fairly large city that didn't require it to my knowledge. So, please don't assume that everyone will know what the rules and regs are in Chicago.

Who's assuming anything? I am stating that if you are smart enough to set up an account on citydata you can figure out how to do some research as to what is required in a city you have relocated into.

Agree to disagree. My main reason for joining this forum was to get information about neighborhoods/suburbs. But, I learn something every day because of the plethora of smart people like you!

Really..do you have a link to back up this "data"

My garage is equally as hard for police to penetrate. I'd love to see your data that says the biggest city sticker offenders are wealthy high rise residents.

Also no where did I say I didn't own a SFH or have city stickers on all 3 of my vehicles, but please continue to make assumptions.

SFH homeowners are in the City's records to a level that high-rise renters are not. But you're right, I can't disprove a negative.

I don't have time to do research the link (the S-T is horrible in that regard), but the Sun-Times did a huge investigation on this years back, and there were numerous quotes by the police interviewed describing how the gold coast specifically was viewed as a problem.

I didn't say you did, don't be so defensive, it reflects poorly on your argument.

Holy hell. This thread took a crazy turn.

And it specifically says on the city website that the "revenue" from the stickers goes towards "street and infrastructure maintenance".

Yep. I'm proud to buy my City sticker and plan on a lifetime of mockery and derision aimed at those yahoos who think they don't need to pitch in. What ever happened to pride in your hometown? Oh, right - people wonder why Chicagoans get so worked up over who is and isn't truly a Chicagoan.

Well, here's a litmus test for ya - got a car without a sticker? Move to Detroit!

I'd be interested in seeing which areas the city spends this money! It certainly isn't in my neighborhood! Potholes everywhere! And that's Chicago for ya! I know the weather in the winter is bad, but common!!!!!
