So I found a friend to go with me to lollapalooza. However, we can't get a hotel room since i'm only 19 and they're too expensive or sold out. So...I thought I would post here and see if anyone (female) was going to the concert and wouldn't mind sparing a room for the two of us. It would be from August 4th to August 6th. Email me at abarnes@mccks.edu or post here if you think it's a possibility.

A lot of people suggested hostiles to you, did you check those out?

I don't know if posting on a message board would be the best idea to find a place to crash. You could try this site- CouchSurfing - Participate in Creating a Better World, One Couch At A Time. I've had friends who have had luck using that service.

You could also try again next year and plan way earlier next time.

I have checked hostels. I've also found another website yesterday (airbnb) to check out.

^A fair number of hotels will only sell hotel rooms to those over 21.

You can go to war, but you can't rent a room.

If you pay for the room online with a credit/debit card there shouldn't be an issues with age. I rented several hotel rooms before I was 21.

Again it's chain and location dependent. Some places don't care at all, others definitey do.

Age restrictions will indeed vary from property to property, but most should be 18+. When you book a room online at the brand's website, there is no "Age verification" section (you just check how many adults and kids). The only thing that I can think of that might affect your reservation (if you are only 18) is that the hotel might require a credit card payment and will not accept cash... so that they can put the incidentals on the card if need be.

Another option is to also look for hotels in the suburbs. I would say stay around O'Hare/Rosemont? Weekend rates are generally cheaper in that market, and you can save maybe $20-$50 a night vs. downtown hotel prices. A CTA train ride will only be $5.75 (1 day unlimited pass) and about an hour's ride into the city. A better solution if you are budget conscious...
