Is it possible to find something, at minimum 1 bedroom in a safe area in the following neighborhoods no more than 150k? No high rises.
River North, Streeterville, Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview East/West, WRIGLEYVILLE, Uptown, Bucktown, Whicker Park, Goose Island, Andersonville.

Just testing the waters before i search a realtor. Have lots of friends in Chicago, been visiting for over 10 years, and looking to keep my house in Tampa(LOVE TAMPA); yet sometimes hang in Chicago(I work from home).

Where I live today in Tampa is a milke from downtown, near bayshore Blvd, Hyde Park area, walkable neighborhood to great clubs, bars, pubs, restaurants, and downtown theaters, sporting events and concerts, festivals, and museums and dog parks.

Necessities: clean, reasonably safe, walkable neighborhood, no more than 15 min walk to mass transit.

Best neioghborhood considering price and necessities.

Thanks in advance.

Well for starters I would just look at Realtor.com and see what is listed. You can probably find a 1 bedroom for around that price but the size will vary depending on where you want to live. A 1 bedroom in LP will probably be a lot smaller than one in Andersonville etc. A 150k home in River North will probably be very tiny.

And someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think there are little to no residences on Goose Island itself.

OP. Yes it is possible to find a non high-rise 1 br for 150K in many of those neighborhoods.

Of course, you'd have a ton of options if willing to look at highrise buildings in some of those areas. But sounds like you've made up your to go low rise.

Realtor.com would be a better resource than this website.

thanks for the feedback, a buddy of mine found me a place to look at around North Halstead and West Oakdale. What can anyone tell me about that specific area.

That is in Lake View close to Lincoln Park. If the place is halfway decent I would go for it.

Halsted and Oakdale is a great neighborhood. You can walk in about 3 minutes to the corner of Clark and Diversey which is the epicenter of Lakeview/Lincoln Park.

However, keep in mind we are in a horrible real estate market and you will have many many options.
