yeh I know I have seen some people that look like they are off an LOLZ internet post. Sometimes I want to stop and take a picture as they are so archetypal.

Depends on your definition of "far" and what qualifies as "good night life" to you. If someone resides closer to the lake, or at least close enough to Clark, you could hop on the bus and literally be minutes from the Andersonville stretch on Clark and just a little bit further until you hit :::shudder::: Clark and Addison.

I hope nobody misconstrues this as me defending Rogers Park. Xavier Xerxes would have a field day.
Be aware that West Ridge is not called West Rogers Park. West Rogers Park is another area of Rogers Park just like East Rogers Park is.
West Ridge is predominately Jewish, German, Korean, and Indian ethnics. It is quieter and safer than some parts of Rogers Park.
Check out historical fact of West Ridge:

Eh... you're fighting a lost battle here. For better or worse, West Rogers Park has become largely synonymous with West Ridge. Say "West Rogers Park" and the first thing most people picture is Indian restaurants.

True, but it helps to nudge people toward the right direction as those who knew the right name for the last 110 years. One step at a time.

I have to agree with FarEastCoast, coming from NYC myself. It does seem odd how segregated the city is. I understand the history of violence, etc. and how that played a role in shaping the demographics of the neighborhoods. It's just a little weird because NYC has a history of all of these issues as well. Yet it is much more integrated. Another thing that baffles me is why people think going in blind with roommates is not a good thing. It was totally normal to me in NYC, it's how I made many of my friends. I never felt uncomfortable with it, it's what most people did. When I told my friends in Chicago I didn't really care if I didn't know my roommate they looked at me like I was crazy. To me crazy is spending too much on an apartment and committing to a lease you don't really want just yet. Maybe that's just me, I don't know.
