So family from the burb came to visit and got a ticket for not displaying a city sticker. They live in the burbs and car's registered there too. So we were disputing with the local parking enforcement. I do not know who that person came from, but I was really shocked to hear him say that "All Illinois vehicles should display a city sticker!"

Is this some kind of joke? Or the city is just robbing people blind?

iF YOU ALSO MAIL A LETTER OF COMPLAINT - DON'T PRINT IT DOUBLE SIDED AS IBM SCANS IT FOR THE CITY ONLY SINGLE SIDED! That's how my $240 ticket got fussed up!

I'm almost 100% sure that only cars registered in the City of Chicago require a city sticker. It's too bad that our city attacks suburbanites nice enough to drive in and visit family members. Daley doesn't realize that he's playing with fire with these gestapo parking enforcement losers... This could be his Bilandic snow plowing.

Yeah. Now you got me thinking. I mean at any given day, there is a certain percentage of cars with Illinois plates not registered in the city. Even at 5%, we're looking at thousands of cars. Does the city even scan your plate and see where it is registered before ticketing you? Isn't this harassment and waste of tax payer's dollars?

Quite a few suburbs have City Stickers...I have a good friend of mine who just moved to Mt. Prospect from California, and her apartment complex told her that when she changed her plates she would have to get a "mt. prospect" city sticker. The main reason, they said, that the suburbs do city stickers is because of the city of Chicago and the fact that some ticket makers are lazy.

OP, just protest the sticker. I have more then a few friends who live here in the city but have their cars registered in the suburbs (far Western Suburbs that don't require stickers). They have NEVER received tickets for "not having a city sticker", because their cars are registered to addresses in DuPage county. The ticket writer is supposed to scan their plate before issuing that ticket, but apparently they didn't.

Protest the ticket, and provide proof of the car's registration to a non-Chicago address; you should be able to get it thrown out. As long as they were not parked on a Permit Required street (Zone Permit), you should be all good to fight it.

So you got a completely bogus ticket from a revenue agent. Congrats, you are now part of an unfortunately non-exclusive club. The revenue agents in this city are right f*&kers. They'll give anyone a ticket for anything, whether it's a ticketable offense or not. If you're lucky, the administrative hearing board will throw out the ticket. My experience, however, is that they are basically a kangaroo court that will rubber-stamp nearly any absurd ticket that comes before them. I'd like to see a law passed that the administrative hearing board has to pay the $90 filing fee for anyone who appeals their decision to an actual court and wins. I bet they'd overturn a lot more bull**** tickets than they do now.

Yeah they shouldnt have gotten the ticket obviously. My gf has had her parents car parked at our place for about 4 weeks while she's commuting to a job in the burbs. Im kinda surprised no one has given her a bs ticket for not having a sticker yet.

When I lived in Chicago I would get a 'city of Palatine' sticker for my front window.
Cost $5 and then I never got a ticket for not having a city sticker.

That was a step up for what I used to do.
From about 1985 - 1992 I had a 'Starfleet Academy Parking' decal in my window.
The ticket guys were too lazy to even read the sticker
Cost me $2.50

Just print the above out, print it on clear film and tape it in your window.
No prob.

Cant say I would recommend that these days. If your car is registered in the city I would put money on it that you would get a ticket
