The plans do not involve tearing the post office down. Maybe you should look at the link I posted.

Chicago's next tall building should be built away from the Loop, maybe like somewhere around Division and Clybourn. That would create a corridor for other tall buildings leading away from the massive jungle in the Loop and Near North.

I for one like the old Post Office, the way if you are driving in on the Ike you go right under it. Other cities have tunnels but does any other have such a grand entrance?

That's actually a good spot for a new skyscraper. Right on the southern edge of the cluster. It would invite more to be built south.
