Thank you, I could not have said it better myself.

yes, and I wouldn't eat a hot dog from sonic...you guys love fast food and chains in the south though so I can see the curiosity.

Anyways to the OP don't knock it until you tried a Chicago style hot dog.

They are easily the best in the country.
it won't be at sonic though, they use cheap low grade meat. I don't think people understand chicago dogs are all beef and kosher with natural casing for that "snap" and no artificial stuff...they are used to eating that pork/chicken filler ish for a dollar from winn dixie down south. people take hot dogs/sausages/etc much much more seriously than elsewhere in the u.s.
same goes for NY, but that is about it.

I chose all of the ingredients (including ketchup, says the 37-year old born and raised Chicagoan).

The worst hot dog that I have ever had was from DQ. I love the rest of their food but that is the nastiest thing ever.

I like my dogs a variety of ways, depending on my mood. Grilled, steamed, boiled, pan fried. Chili. Kraut. Chicago style, or ketchup mustard and relish. Maybe some gardiniera relish. I'm not slavishly devoted to any one preparation. (One of the best dogs I ever had was a Chicago Style + Chili, what a mess, but so delicious!)
My Bro-In-Law was visiting us this weekend and I did make it a point to get him an authentic Chicago Style dog (Portillos) because he'd never had one before. He loved it, but I think he slipped some ketchup on it on the sly. Whatever. Like Irishtom says, you like what you like, and why should anyone give a F*** about what's on someone elses hot dog anyways?
