Your location on your profile says Wicker Park/East Village. That is the West Side.

You are twisting words again in this thread by saying we're old people bigots and we think old people's opinions don't count, when nobody ever said that.

Despite the fact that Wicker Park is generally more north-side oriented than west side people on this board will pitch a fit if you don't consider yourself a west-sider.

People get butt hurt here pretty easily.

If by North Side oriented you mean white and middle class and with closer ties to the North than South side then large parts of the West Side once met those criteria, Austin for instance. But it was still the West Side.

I don't consider Wicker Park to be West Side.

Ask someone from the Southside where Wicker Park is and I guarantee they will tell you the northside. I think people determine sides in relation to the Loop. I now many people consider anything north or northwest of the Loop (which WP falls in) to be part of the northside of the city. Anything West of the Loop, like the West Loop is considered the West Side of the city. That is how I determine the sides of the city.

1) City of Chicago :: Near Northwest Side Plan

2) 1600N and 1600W is EXACTLY NORTHWEST of downtown, therefore it is the Northwest side, "near" northwest, same as we have a "near" north and "near" west.

3) My point is I don't want to be a north sider, and I wouldn't be ashamed to be a west sider, as Tom twists my words to indicate. Just like he twists the words of "grumpy old man" into "bigotry" against the aged.

Honestly that is what I meant more or less. Geographically it's on the "west" side because it's west of the river but it's also on the north side of the city for all intents and purposes. Plus with the above mentioned ties I don't really think it's out of the question for a person to consider themselves part of the north side.

Boundaries and perception change with time.

While he does have a tendency to do that, he was actually sort of right this time around
