Yep, a $700 studio in Lake View will be a dump. You have to pay to play and 700 a month is not enough to play in Lake View and even if it was, you'll be too house poor to actually enjoy the neighborhood. E. Rogers Park and Edgewater are better options but even they won't be easy on that tiny budget.

Where is Edgewater, exactly (in relation to other neighborhoods)?

Along the lake between Uptown and Rogers Park. Andersonville is part of Edgewater but most people in Andersonville will say they live in Andersonville and not Edgewater.

Edgewater is on the lakefront between Foster and Devon. Western Border is Damen? maybe.

It's officially Ravenswood but people living that far west generally don't call the neighborhood Edgewater.

The undisputed western border of Edgewater is Ravenswood, as I live on it.

There are a ton of signs around here saying "Welcome to West Edgewater", but it's a mix of what my neighbors call it. Walk into the Ravenswood Pub and ask the locals and you'll get a mix of answers. We're super close to the Andersonville strip, so many people identify with that.

Is Uptown a safe area? I *think* that I've been through there, and it seemed like it was a little run-down in some parts.
