Try an updated map, for one. For another, someone is looking at all the pretty colors again and having no idea what areas those represent. Most of what's on that map isn't even Los Angeles. That's a general map of Southern California. If you actually knew what you were talking about, you'd see that *much* more of the city of LA is racially inegrated than Chicago, including nice areas where educated professionals work and play. Do you want me to circle them for you?

Guess my advice about not being too hung up on groups didn't sink in. Sigh...

Please. It's just some people are all "I wonder why Chicago has such a bad name for its segregation" then when you point out other cities that aren't this way, they get all defensive and insist that Chicago is exactly the same as other large American cities in this regard. No. It's not. The reputation is well-earned.

well, since OP hasn't bothered showing up to explain just what the heck he was trying to say, I think you might be the one reading into things here. and I find it extremely uncool to start volatile threads and vamoose, but YMMV.

so go back and read the original post, I did.

the OP is not complaining about getting any grief for being black so much as a lack of attention that they enjoyed in college.

I think that's par for the course for everyone to some degree - college life is pretty great.

That's why we distinguish it from "the real world."

Well, I will say Chicago has reputation for being incredibly racist. Often people choose to live around their own kind. But how do you explain black athletes who don't want to play there. I guess it's the midwest charm.

I believe it was made up. I've heard of AAs not wanting to play in Green Bay, not necessarily because of rascism though.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar didn't want to play in Milwaukee for "cultural reasons".
