So you do not visit Chicago but you spend time reading the threads?

My son received a motion from the city for a missed court date related to a ticket. He had already paid the ticket he received - for looking at his GPS on his phone. The motion was for another ticket that he never got. He went downtown to 400 Superior and ended up talking to a city lawyer and agreed to pay a $90 fine ( instead 0f $500 which was on the motion). On his way out, he requested a copy of the alleged ticket. When he looked at it, he saw that the signature on the ticket was not his. Apparently forged his name......wow what a shame that people have so little integrity
I told him he should pay the fine rather than try to fight anything like this.

When I demanded to see her source of time, she conceded it wasn't yet 6:00 but the ticket had already been processed. Little does she know, I video taped the whole thing on my phone without her knowing, I hope she gets fired. Still have to go through all the BS to get the ticket thrown out. I wonder how many people pay the ticket in this situation.
I had a similar experience a few years back. I was parked in a place that had no parking until after 9am. I arrived at 9:05 and parked and crossed the street and a tow truck tried to take my car. As it was pulling away I got in my car and kept flashing 9 fingers at the driver and refused to leave until he finally relented and released my vehicle. Another reason I rarely go into the city and am glad I don't live there.

This is not a new practice. I have a friend who years ago lived in Lakeview and parked his car in a wholly legal spot in a parking lot in Lincoln Park (in the park proper, up around Waveland) and got a ticket that said he was at a different address - one that Did. Not. Exist.

It's stuff like this that makes me a) glad that I don't own a car, and b) no longer live in Chicago.

I've been the lucky recipient of two completely illegitimate tickets in the last month and a third "parking" ticket that the all-too-excited officer gave to me while I was sitting in my car, pulled over- he could have simply approached and asked me to move.

Ticket #1 was for "no flashers" in a flasher loading zone. Unfortunately my flashers WERE on. I sucked it up and paid it.
Ticket #2 was for parking in a bike lane at 1600 LSD. It arrived in the mail. I was extremely confused, looked back in my planner to the date, and I was driving from gold coast to uptown along LSD at the time, definitely not parked, stopped, or pulled over. I'm contesting this one in-person.

LOL bike lane at 1600 LSD. Were you driving your car on the Lakefront Bike Path?

Technically possible there. 1600 LSD is the address of North Avenue beach

Nowhere near the bike path! This one really blew my mind when it came in. It's a $150 ticket too.

My BF got a ticket saying his temp parking pass was expired and then they took a picture of the pass he had on his car but the flash blocked the view. I took off the ticket and took a picture of the pass in the exact same position that the person had an hour earlier, except this time you could read it, and sent it in.

It clearly said the correct date. Jeez.
