Hi guys. I just bought a condo right near Wolcott and Berteau and was wondering what neighborhood you would consider that to be. It's referred to as North Center in the MLS but that doesn't really mean anything to most people. Or maybe it does. What do you guys think? Doesn't matter obviously but I was just curious. Thanks.

Ravenswood, St. Ben's, North Center. Nice area. I hope you're on the quiet side of Wolcott, away from the train tracks.

It is North Center, but very close to Ravenswood.

Thanks. So is it one of those still to be determined?

I wouldn't say the quiet side but I am on the quieter side.

That's the heart of North Center - you've even got the neighborhood placemarkers up at Irving, Damen & Lincoln.

In my day we would have called that Ravenswood for sure. But when they renamed the Ravenswood CTA line the Brown line, Ravenswood as a neighborhood name started diminishing considerably in common usage.

It's just straight up North Center.

North Center, Chicago - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There's no confusion. Maybe you justs haven't heard of it because it's not a crazy hoppin place. Not right by the lake, not crazy rich, not poor, not dangerous.

It's a nice area.

My guess is incomes in North Center have skyrocketed in the last decade and will likely continue on that trajectory.
