You can chill out and relax to chicago hip hop

Lupe, Kanye, and Common need to start an empire in Chicago like JayZ and P-Diddy have in NYC.
Anyway i heard Jay and Kanye have been having problems.
You can't lump chicago with philly and ny rap. Chicago rap sucks. They worry about image too much. Bring some of the thugs off the west side and let them represent.

Let them represent what? The industry wants rappers who are fake thugs- not real ones

True. Right now it's a tough time for anyone in the music industry for a variety of reasons. (A) the decline of record sales, (B) the sagging economy, etc.

If you want to make that loot in the rap game today you need to be able to sell other forms of your music such as ring tones, music downloads (via ITunes for example), etc. And the artists that have a branded image or a solid following decidedly have the edge in today's climate. Who would've ever thought that Lil' Wayne would get this big? Clearly, he captured the young Caucasian market in addition to the 'hood long ago lol. And yeah, he's one of the few that has major label backing these days.

Some the negative post on this topic is why I don't really even listen to Hip Hop much. Its not a peaceful, enjoyable, fun genre anymore. The older we all get the more dumb it seems. I really feel bad for those over 30 year old local rappers everywhere, that can't figure out that telling a lady you are rapper at 30 something is lame. I like the old stuff. Most people in their 30s like the old stuff. Technology gives us the ability to listen to what we like. Really no need to complain about Soulja Boy & D4L etc etc. Buy an Ipod or Zune and get the jams you like.

chicago--home to gay rappers. Let some of the thugs from the west side do their thing. I know the true g's have to resent the kanye and lupe fiasco types.

I didn't read all five pages but just look to Wicker Park for whats big or next in hip hop.
All the new Dj's and MC's that are interesting and fresh all live in that part of town.

Honestly, living in WP is the only thing I miss about living in Chicago, well and the food.
