I wouldn't turn away anything, and I don't want something easy. I've always worked hard and plan on only working harder still. I've lived by the belief that through perseverance you can overcome anything as long as you recognize it. I only state this because I don't want the wrong impression going out of my goals and intentions. Groupon keeps cropping up, and maybe rightfully so. I will look into it more.

I totally understand... been there, done that.

I worked for a sister company of groupon, Echo Global Logistics, their 3PL counterpart, same ownership....it was a terrible place to work, I absolutely hated the whole year I worked there. They basically make their money off finding ways to tweak and change the compensation structure to screw their sales reps out of money. I was a top 40 sales rep there and I only made a couple thousand in commission (which is horrible) and I had a 23 year old manager that was a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

Anyway, that being said, I was unemployed for 6 months and despite having the experience I had in sales, it was hard to find a job. I had many interviews that I didn't get for entry level positions because I think they believe I was only interested because I was unemployed. I ultimately found a job through someone I knew.

I would try networking more, meaning make friends with people through other means, and then after hanging out a few times say "hey, where do you work? Are you guys hiring? Can you refer me?"

Most large companies give employees a bonus for successful employee referrals, so they'd love a chance at a few hundred dollars by referring a friend to the company. Ask around, try to meet new people and go through them.

Otherwise yeah, it's hard out there. I'm looking again as well but I have a job right now so I can afford to be picky.
