Is there any chance we could see 80 degrees again before winter? Just in case someone wanted to, umm, take the day off of work and go to the beach? Whatcha think?

maybe a handful , but what stinks about Fall warmups is that there's just not as much 'day' left ... whatever the temperature, the sun will be going down before 7:00 ...

Possible but not likely. It seems that summer left almost as soon as September stated.

There should be a high of 80f this Wednesday 9/28, according to Tom Skilling in the Tribune, but who knows.

Since 2000 Chicago has hit 80 degrees or higher in 9 of those 10 years. So yes, normally there'd be a very high chance we'd hit 80.

Some of those years it was in the upper 80's for almost a week. In 2008 we were still in the mid 70's during November.

This year has just been VERY cold since late August because of random weather patterns. It should still be in the mid 70's.

I would asses the probability of at least one more 80 degree day at about 70%. The probability of a string of days maybe like 30%. Regardless of whether it actually gets to 80, there is usually at least one sting of really nice weather in October. However, I would not call it ideal beach weather, mostly because the sun is at a lower angle. You would have to be there between noon and two.

It will definitely hit 80 again. There's been some talk of moving the date of the Chicago Marathon because of how hot it's been for the last 3 or 4 marathons - last year it was in the mid-80's and in 2007 it was close to 90.
