I was wondering what area of Chicago MDW is located? I'm looking for houses to rent but not sure where to look.

Midway?
The southwest side.
A simple search on google maps will tell you the neighborhoods around it. Westlawn, Brighton Park, Burbank, Bedford Park...

Suburbs nearby too.

Bedford Park and Burbank are suburbs.

The two well-known and arguably the nicest city neighborhoods down by there are Clearing and Garfield Ridge.

It is relatively easy to get to Midway from the South Loop via the Orange Line El. If you don't need to be walking distance from the airport that is generally a heckuva lot more interesting that living close by.

If you have a desire to have better options for raising kids and such you may want to consider living in a burb with good access to I-55( the Stevenson expressway).

Right, there are a lot of houses for rent in the South Loop.

If the OP has a need / to to rent A SINGLE FAMILY DETACHED HOUSE and rely on CTA for transportation my recommendation would NOT be to stay inside Chicago. Honestly the options are MUCH better to do that along the Blue Line between O'Hare the Loop.

If they are OK with a condo / townhouse I think South Loop could work pretty well.

If they only want to be CLOSE to Midway and CTA is not a necessity the options nearby open up considerably...

As others have implied but not explicitly stated, you need to provide more detailed information if you expect to receive useful guidance.

Would you care to elaborate why you would not recommend the OP rent a house near the Orange line or near Midway?

Because those areas are in the "city" and not the shiny part of the "city" and therefore are "icky."
