Hello everyone,

I am moving to an apartment on N. Bernard Street. I like this area, because I am right next to the blue line and has convenient buses that helps get around to pretty much everywhere. I'll be parking on the street since my roommate has the garage spot so I am trying to decide if leaving my car in the northern burbs at my parents for the winter will outweighs the headaches of street parking my car on the street. I have heard a lot of bad stories about street parking during the winter and thus why I am asking this question.

thanks,

If you don't need to drive and with the roommate having a car I would seriously think about leaving the wheels with mom & dad for the winter...

Any time there is snow removal it really makes conditions tight. If you can avoid the whole "dinette set saving the parking space" scene it will save aggrevation.

What do you actually need the car for? If you have that little of a need for a car that you can leave it with your parents for months on end, perhaps you would be better off selling it and joining a car sharing program or renting when needed.

I don't really need it unless I need to buy groceries...I thought about selling the car but I just bought it before I decided to move to Chicago.

well, you've got a few options. leaving it in the burbs would make the most sense IMO. you could get an I-Go car sharing membership which would allow you to use a car as-needed and skip the hassle.

or you can park it on the street and just not use it very much -chet is right, the "space saving" thing is annoying beyond belief.

welcome to Avondale!
