I am bringing my daughter to Chicago for a couple of nights from Indy. One evening we are going to see the Blue Man Group, but not sure what to do the other. She loves live music, but not quite old enough to enter a bar. Is there any place that plays rock music where we could eat that she would be allowed to enter? House of Blues doesn't have much to listen to on March 6th & 7th. Any ideas would be of great help. I just want her to have a good time.

There are 18-and-up nights at some of the rock clubs. I am thinking particularly of Lincoln Hall and Schubas, which are both very nice (and owned by the same two guys). Check the web sites or call the management.

Check ahead, some places allow under-21's if they are with a legal guardian. There are also plenty of smaller venues that may have music she would enjoy.

Has she ever been to Chicago?

Are you looking only for nightlife suggestions? I think she may have a lot of fun doing some tourist things too. There is of course the obvious ones like the Bean, Sears Tower, Navy Pier, or Field Museum. But I would also recommend that you take her to water tower place and up and down the magnificent mile for some shopping. She would love to do that I think!

Lincoln Hall is a good find. There's also a theater across the street that shows older films; a cool place.

And there's always Clarks nearby for 24/7 food - that hits the spot late at night.

The Head & the Heart | the Vic | Rock, Pop, Etc | Chicago Reader

Korallreven | Lincoln Hall | Rock, Pop, Etc | Chicago Reader

Call the venues and ask if they are 21+ or 18+.
