There is little to say about the south side except the following "dont waist your time". Nothing to see and most of the south side is a ****hole. Stay north. Its cleaner, mostly safer, and there is always the alive and well vibe where the southside is dead after 6pm like some cemetary. The south side is so predicatble too. Every corner is either a bank, fast food, a dive bar, 7-11, or a gas station. Very little else.
I can see you don't leave your parents' basement very much.

Ravenswood/Lincoln Square/North Center/Andersonville would be a great spot for you. I think you're going to be hard pressed to get a 2 bedroom in Wicker Park/Bucktown for that price.

I fail to see the uniqueness of your situation.

I haven't read every post from soup to nuts, but I agree with any Edgewater/Andersonville, Uptown or North Center suggestions. You will definitely find something in your price range and depending on where you pick.....you could have access to the Red Line for 24 hour transportation. I agree with staying north based on what you highlighted.
