After my divorce finalized early 2011, now my house is going foreclosure.
last november i went and applied for an apt. At first it was declined.somehow the leasing agent got me approved. For some reasons I couldn't move. I told her I possible move in march 2012(next month). she told me since my app. was approved,it would stay in my profile for 6 months.OK!!! hugh release since i know I have a bad credit.
Last week I went back. other agent told me i had to start app over.
My worst fear, i know my credit so well.My app was delined.
Im deperately searching for apartment. I have 30 more days left before i force to move out.
Anyone know anyway i can rent apartment without credit check.
Im a singlemom with 2 young children.I cant leave them homeless.
Im working2 jobs.Useless of having 6 figures income a year with bad credit.Im not a bad person. I have just gone through a life changing experience.
Im sorry for a long post. I run out of time.I need a roof for my children and myself.
Im willing to pay 1-2 month deposit.($1000-1200 /month rent.).I have cosigners, can provide employment verification.
pleas any posts will be appreciated and useful.

look...people understand this stuff happens. you're more likely to run into resistance on the more commercial type properties. have you tried Craigslist and looked for individual renters instead of the big corporate buildings? contact them and explain your situation. offer to work with them on the security deposit.

and sound calm and collected. if you're making 100k then you should have zero issues landing a place.

the places with leasing agents that will hold your application for 6 months are NOT the places you should be looking at. as mentioned, stick to private landlords w/ only a single or couple of rentals. Some of these guys may not even do a credit check (I've had a couple of LLs who didn't)

Good advice.

Do the larger companies like Apartment Search, Apartment Finders (or MAC Properties in Hyde Park) place applicants with credit issues? If you want to live in Hyde Park, there is a building around 4900 S Drexel and another one on 53rd and Dorchester that have (or had) signs hanging out front that say no credit check.

BTW, here are the wait periods to get a new mortgage after adverse credit:
1 year: 30-days late on mortgage payment
2 years: Pre-foreclosure (90 days late, but caught up on payments)
2 years: Chapter 13 discharged
3 years: FHA wait period after foreclosure
4 years: Chapter 13 dismissed
4 years: Chapter 7 discharged
4 years: Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure
5 years: Fannie/Freddie wait period after foreclosure
5 years: If two Bankruptcies in the last seven years (For example, filing Chapter 13 with a repayment agreement and then filing Chapter 7 to walk away)

The Home Affordable Refinance Program will assist with underwater refinances starting the week of March 17. HARP allows one late payment > 181 days. No late payments in the last 180 days. PM me for details. I am a mortgage banker in Chicago.

Apt. Finders does a credit check, but they are not really responsible for placing you. They do the credit check and if the Landlord does not like what they see then that is that.
